I use a technique taught by Mary Sauer, principal pianist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, that uses arm movement to support and simplify a cohesive piano technique.  This technique allows the natural alignment and movement of the arm and body to offer an ease of playing that avoids injury, pain, and encourages freedom of expression in piano playing.

I have found this technique to be a revolutionizing factor in my playing after already earning a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in piano performance.  Only after applying this natural technique do I feel like I have a cohesive way of playing that is as effective with voicing as it is with dexterity.
